About Zaira

Zaira is a professional belly dancer who performs in the US and internationally, showing the beauty of classical Egyptian Oriental, American, and Turkish Cabaret dance. She specializes in both choreography and improvisation. Born and raised in southern Louisiana, she has always been involved in the arts.

After college Zaira moved to Dallas–Fort Worth and joined a local belly dance class for fun and exercise. Within a few years she was teaching and had become a popular entertainer in the area. She later taught classes and workshops in New England, then returned to Dallas and formed the professional performance troupe The Desert Diamonds.

In December 2016 she opened Melbourne Belly Dancing Space Coast. She is the owner and director of the academy and of the performing Melbourne Belly Dance Troupe, and she still teaches workshops across the United States.

Zaira has taught for numerous dance studios, the University of North Texas, Texas Christian University, and the Authentic Bellydance Academy of Dallas. She co-directed and choreographed the Academy's professional group, first-place winners of the US Ahlan Cairo Nights troupe competition, featured in news and DVDs across the US. She also directed The Arabesque Dancers, the Emerald Sands, and The Desert Diamonds.

A mentor at heart, her goal is for every student to reach their fullest potential while having fun with this unique art. Always a student herself, she continues to train in workshops and seminars at home and abroad.
